ABC News’ Dr. Darien Sutton takes a look at how ultra-processed foods affect our bodies, as a CDC study finds they make up over half of Americans’ daily calorie intake.
Good Morning America features the work of Dr. Alex DiFeliceantonio and her team at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, including TBMH graduate student Zach Hutelin, in a segment on ultra-processed foods.
This national coverage reinforces FBRI’s growing strengths in nutrition, eating behavior, and metabolic health research. It also presents an opportunity to spotlight their expanding NIH-funded (NIDDK, NIAMS) programs that support workforce development and training across multiple levels in nutrition, exercise science, biomedical and related health sciences. These efforts reflect the many growing career paths in the biomedical and health sciences fields across our region, and position FBRI as a key contributor to developing a skilled workforce prepared for these expanding opportunities.
